What we’re bringing to Düsseldorf

On our stand you’ll find our full product range, from fresh produce trays and flexible pouches to tea packaging built for the regulations ahead. Here’s a look at what we’ll be showcasing.

Tea Packaging – Ready for the PPWR

One of the topics we’ll be talking about a lot at Interpack is the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). Under this regulation, tea bags and sticky labels must be mandatorily compostable by 2028. For tea brands, that deadline is closer than it looks, and the time to act is now.

At Bio4Pack, we think about the full picture. When a consumer finishes their cup of tea, they instinctively put the used tea bag back into its envelope before throwing it away. If the tea bag is compostable but the envelope isn’t, that creates a problem: the consumer has to separate the two before disposing of them correctly. Most won’t. By making both the tea bag and the outer envelope fully compostable, you remove that friction entirely. Everything goes into the organic waste bin together, in one single action.

Our tea packaging range covers the full spectrum of product needs:

  • Standard paper-based solutions for fast-moving consumer goods
  • Ultra-high aroma barrier laminates, including foil and paper-foil options, for premium blends where freshness and shelf life are non-negotiable
  • Individual sachets and outer envelopes for retail and foodservice formats
  • Resealable retail pouches for loose leaf or bagged tea

On the production side, our compostable films require no machine adjustments. They run on all current tea packaging machines at full speed, with no loss of capacity, and can be printed in up to 8 colours. All structures are certified compostable under both EN 13432 (industrial) and OK Compost HOME by TÜV Austria (home composting).

The 2028 deadline is approaching, but you don’t have to wait. Bio4Pack offers these PPWR-compliant solutions today, at competitive prices.

Paddy Straw Trays – From Rice Field to Retail Shelf

Our Paddy Straw Trays are made from rice plantation waste collected in Asia. That waste would normally be burned, causing air pollution and putting pressure on local water supplies. By using it as a raw material for packaging, we avoid that harm and put it to good use instead.

There’s also a social side to this product. The production process has created new jobs and income for farming communities in Malaysia. The trays carry a Silver Cradle-to-Cradle certificate and are certified compostable under EN 13432. Research from Wageningen University & Research confirmed they perform on par with PET and pulp alternatives for keeping fresh produce in good condition. Available for strawberries, mushrooms, tomatoes, avocados, cherry tomatoes and more.

Doypacks and Block Bottom Bags – Versatile and Compostable

Our Doypacks and Block Bottom Bags are suitable for a wide range of products: tea, coffee, granola, snacks, dry food, legumes and more. They’re certified under EN 13432 for industrial composting and NF T51-800:2015 for home composting.

They can be printed in up to 8 colours, come with resealable options, and run on all standard packaging machines. They’re available from stock, so lead times are short.
